Bicyclist killed by hit-run driver in Iredell

The N.C. Highway Patrol is looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision Monday evening that left a bicyclist dead in Iredell County.

The incident was reported around 5 p.m. on Barry Oak Road, not far from Barnhill Road. That is about 5 miles east of Statesville, in the Chambersburg community.

Troopers spent several hours Monday evening at the scene, looking for evidence. They are asking anyone with information in the case to contact the Highway Patrol at 1-800-445-1779.

The name of the victim has not been released.
