2nd time this week ... gas line ruptured in Charlotte’s uptown

Charlotte firefighters were called Thursday afternoon to deal with a ruptured natural gas line on East Trade Street – for the second time in three days.

The gas line leak was reported about 2 p.m. in the 300 block of East Trade Street. That is near the Epicentre, not far from the light rail line and Time Warner Cable Arena.

Charlotte Fire Department officials said some people were being evacuated from businesses in the area. A leak at the same location on Tuesday also forced evacuations. Firefighters stopped that leak in less than 10 minutes.
