The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in identifying two men who allegedly took dozens of cartons of cigarettes from a convenience store earlier this week.

The alleged larceny was reported Tuesday at Love’s Travel Plaza, in the 1100 block of Peeler Road, near Salisbury.

Investigators said the two men entered the store and distracted the store’s clerk. While one man was keeping the clerk busy, the other man took 28 cartons of cigarettes from behind the counter.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact sheriff’s detectives at 704-216-8687 or 704-216-8686.
