One look at Old South Studios’ Facebook page and I was a fan! From engagements, to bridals to weddings, they have some of the most stunning photos I’ve seen (they also do family portraits, newborn and seniors). What caught my attention this week was their offering for a boudoir session on June 15th. Upon first hearing about boudoir shoots, one might think it’s all about the slinkiest lingerie you can find; but Julie, Lead Wedding Photographer with Old South Studios, assured me it’s not.

Julie’s goal with these portraits is to make the bride feel very feminine and confident. For this reason, a professional hair and make-up artist is hired to spend one hour beautifying the bride before the session and stays through the session in case any touch-ups are needed. Additionally, wardrobe recommendations are provided to each person who books a session and Julie says not to focus on lingerie, but consider items such as silky slips, corsets, a button down shirt or a sweater that can be slipped off of your shoulder. Julie focuses on posing, lighting and shadowing to make sure the features you love most are captured and is also able to retouch those areas that you might not love so much! The portraits are taken at hotels around the Charlotte area, and each session lasts between one and two hours.

Old South Studios started these boudoir sessions about three years ago, as they had more and more brides asking for them. These portraits are a spectacular wedding gift for the groom, whether given to him the night before the wedding, the night of, or even on the honeymoon. The groom will certainly appreciate the effort that went into creating the photos and also that he has his own book featuring stunning images of his wife. After the session is over and you’ve selected your photos (somewhere between 15-20 images), the portraits are bound in a black leather album and placed in a gift box. The images are for your eyes only and will never be posted on the website or social media.

These sessions are available as an add-on for brides booking packages with Old South Studios, or for anyone else who may be looking to surprise their other half who already has all the watches and ties he needs. Anniversaries, birthdays or any time before children come along would be a great time to invest in a package with Julie and Old South. For more information or to book one of the 4 slots available on June 15th, email Julie at Julie@oldsouthstudios.com and be sure to check them out on Facebook and their website!
