Area law enforcement agencies partner for Saturday’s “Coffee with a Cop” in Dilworth

Representatives from five area law enforcement agencies will meet with community members during an informal “Coffee with a Cop” event in Dilworth Saturday morning.

In an effort to improve relationships and community policing, the one-on-one setting is a chance for residents to ask questions, voice any concerns they have about activity they see in their neighborhoods and get to know the officers who patrol their areas, organizers said.

Similar events in surrounding jurisdictions have proven effective in establishing rapport with residents, who may otherwise feel officers are “unapproachable” while on patrol, according to police.

The event is open to the public and members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Huntersville and Concord Police Departments will attend, along with officials from Mecklenburg and Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Offices.

“Coffee with a Cop” will start at 9 a.m. at Dilworth Coffee, 5818 Highland Shoppes Drive, Charlotte. Details: 704-875-6565.
