An accident at Church and Hill streets partially blocked the I-277 entrance ramp Tuesday afternoon in uptown Charlotte.

At least one person was injured and rush hour traffic was snarled in uptown Charlotte after a wreck involving a truck and a red sedan.

The collision happened around 5:12 p.m. near the Church street entrance to Interstate 277. A black late-model truck had T-boned a four-door Hyundai Sedan on the driver’s side.

The wreck was cleared up about an hour after it happened and traffic was moving smoothly.

It was unclear how seriously the people involved were injured. Firefighters used the jaws of life to free the driver of the sedan from the vehicle, then wheeled him into a waiting ambulance.

A small child that appeared to have been inside the car was escorted into a waiting police car by a female officer. Nearby, other first responders took measurements and cleared away debris from the road.
