Laura Capps and Brett Lawrence

Lauren Rosenau Photography

Two summers ago, in 2012, I was working for a promotional team for Anheuser- Busch which was keeping me busy during everyone else’s down time. I was in desperate need of a vacation, so in August Brett told me to pick a weekend to drive down to Charleston, even if it was just for one night. Brett made a reservation at the Francis Marion Hotel on King Street and we spent the whole day wandering around the city, enjoying each other’s company. We went and ate dinner on the rooftop of a seafood restaurant, which had the cutest patio with string lights and colorful tapestries hung all over. After we ate, we walked towards the water and ended up on a pier with an amazing view of the Cooper River Bridge. Brett started to act a little strange and suddenly got up and asked, “Do you know how much I love you?” I started to reply, but before I could finish he was down on one knee with the most perfect ring. It had yellow diamonds, which I love, and made it all the more special that it showed how well he really knew me. It was the most magical night, and the definition of “us.”

Laura and Brett will be married August 16, 2014.
