Desmond Lamonte Clark, 34, of Charlotte, was arrested Wednesday on numerous drug charges in Rowan County, authorities say.

A Charlotte man was arrested on Wednesday after a two-month investigation by local, state and federal officials into drug trafficking, authorities say.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said Desmond Lamonte Clark, 34, was taken into custody at his home in northeast Charlotte. He was charged with 35 drug-related counts, including several heroin trafficking charges.

Investigators said they believe Clark was supplying crack cocaine and heroin in several Piedmont counties over the past five years. The Sheriff’s Office said it began the probe in April, with an undercover agent allegedly making seven purchases of heroin and crack cocaine from Clark.

Each of the purchases was for at least 5 grams, and one sale was for 20 grams, deputies said.

Investigators said they found $5,000 in cash and a number of drug-related items at Clark’s home Thursday. He was jailed under $3 million bond.

Deputies said Clark had four felony drug convictions in Cabarrus County between 1999 and 2008.
