With the Fourth of July falling on a Friday, many of the events marking Independence Day are scheduled for a day or two afterward.
Here is a schedule of Independence Day holiday festivals, fireworks and other events.
Saturday, July 5
Beech Mountain: 47th annual Roasting of the Hog Festival, 5:30-9:30 p.m., at base of mountain resort; fireworks, 9:30 p.m.
Belmont: Red, White and Belmont Festival, 2-10 p.m.
Blowing Rock: Festival, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.; parade, 2 p.m.; fireworks, 9:30 p.m.
Charlotte Uptown: Memorial Stadium, after the 7 p.m. Charlotte Hounds-Rochester Rattlers lacrosse game.
Faith: Faith Fourth Celebration, 1-10 p.m.
Oakboro: 56th annual 4th of July Festival, 6-11:30 p.m.
Taylorsville: Flag pole dedication, 9:30 a.m., county administration building; parade, 10:30 a.m., on Main Avenue; festival, 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m., at Watts Field; fireworks, 9:30 p.m.
Sunday, July 6
Belmont: Red, White and Belmontr Festival, 2-10 p.m.; concert, 7-9:30 p.m.; fireworks, 9:30 p.m.
