Man arrested in shooting of woman at Charlotte ATM

De-Lin Collins, 22, was arrested Monday in connection with an incident last month in which a woman was robbed at an ATM off North Sharon Amity Road and then shot in the face as she tried to drive away.

A 22-year-old man was arrested Monday morning and charged in connection with a Charlotte robbery last month in which a woman was shot in the face.

De-Lin Collins was taken into custody by detectives in the 6600 block of English Hills Drive, at an apartment complex off Albemarle Road near W.T. Harris Boulevard. Police said Collins was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The robbery was reported about 1:30 a.m. June 4 at an ATM in a shopping center parking lot on North Sharon Amity Road, police said.

A woman who was withdrawing money was approached by two or three men who demanded her belongings, police said. According to investigators, the woman dropped her purse and got into her car, attempting to drive away.

As she began pulling away, police said, someone fired into her car.
