Coddle Creek Elementary

Summer Media Center hours: The Media Center is open to students 2-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 1.

Lakeshore Middle

Fall sports information: Football tryouts will take place 6-8 p.m. Aug. 18. Cross country practice will be after school until 4:45 p.m. starting Aug. 27. Volleyball workouts are scheduled 3:30-5:15 p.m. Aug. 18, 19 and 22, and tryouts are after school until 4:45 p.m. Aug. 25-26. Cheerleading tryouts are after school until 5:15 p.m. Aug. 27-29. Students must live in the Lakeshore Middle School district. A current physical from a doctor is mandatory for tryouts. Participating students must have a sports physical before they can attend practice. A concussion information form must also be completed and signed by both the student and parents. Shepherd Elementary

Media Center summer hours: The Media Center will be open to rising first-fifth graders 12:30-4 p.m. July 16 and 30 and Aug. 13.

Troutman Middle

Summer Transition Camp: A free Summer Transition Camp for rising sixth-graders will be held 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 11. Lunch will be provided and transportation is available if needed. Registration is required. Details: 704-528-5137.

South Iredell High

FFA awards: The South Iredell Future Farmers of America group attended the 86th North Carolina FFA Convention June 17-19 in Raleigh, N.C. and received awards for 100 percent membership and chapter growth. Jacob Oliphant received a perfect score in the Tools and Materials competition. Karleigh Sherrill and Caleb Troutman received a second place award for their research on pasture rotation.

Host families: The Council on International Educational Exchange is seeking host families in Charlotte and the surrounding counties for international high school students arriving in August.
