Burglars take steaks, liquor from Gastonia restaurant

Gastonia police are looking for the thief or thieves who might have had quite a feast over the Independence Day weekend.

Investigators said someone broke into a restaurant late Friday or early Saturday and left with high-quality meat and liquor.

Police said the break-in took place at Nick’s Steak and Tap House, in the 100 block of S. South Street, sometime between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 10:40 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators said items taken from the restaurant included $50 worth of New York strip steaks, four bottles of liquor worth $120, and two 18-packs of beer valued at $30. In addition, $188 in cash was taken from the business.

No arrests have been announced, and Gastonia police did not say if they have a suspect in the case.
