Police are looking for a man who robbed a bank Thursday afternoon in Matthews.

No injuries were reported in the robbery, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the SunTrust branch in the 300 block of West John Street. That is about halfway between Matthews Township Parkway and the downtown Matthews business district.

Police say a masked man entered the bank and displayed a handgun. The suspect ran off with the money toward Irwin Lane and Main Street.

The suspect is described as a black male who was wearing a dark gray Champion hoodie with an orange traffic vest over it. He also was wearing blue jeans, white Nike sneakers with a black swoosh and dark sunglasses.

Police ask that anyone with information in the case contact Matthews detectives at 704-847-5555.
