Kings Mountain police are looking for a man who robbed a restaurant at gunpoint early Monday and then abducted an employee, forcing the worker to drive the man away to help in his escape.
The employee was not injured, police said.
The robbery took place about 12:45 a.m. at the Wendy’s restaurant in the 100 block of York Road. An alarm was sounded, and police arrived to find that the suspect had forced one of the employees to drive him away.
Investigators said the employee was told to drive the suspect to an undisclosed location, where the man ran off. The employee then returned to the restaurant and talked to police.
The suspect was described as a black male, about 6-foot-1-inch and slim, with medium skin tone. He was wearing dark clothing and had a blue bandana around his face, police said. The suspect was carrying a handgun, according to authorities.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call police at 704-734-0444.
