Matthews police warned the public Wednesday about multiple car break-ins along Highway 74.

Police said the break-ins occurred mostly in commercial and hotel parking lots at various times of the day and night.

“It’s really covered the span of 74,” Officer Tim Aycock said. Aycock said the break-ins have occurred over the past six weeks and everything from electronics to loose change has been stolen.

Police are looking for a silver Dodge Charger with tinted windows that has been caught on video around the break-ins, Aycock said. Police aren’t sure if there is more than one suspect at this time.

Anyone with information can contact the Matthews Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 704-847-5555.
