Albemarle police probe downtown shootout

ALBEMARLE Police in Albemarle are asking the public’s help in finding those responsible for a reported shootout between occupants of two vehicles last weekend in the city’s downtown area.

The shooting was reported around midnight Sunday, police said. They said people in two vehicles on East Main Street exchanged gunfire.

Police spotted one of the vehicles allegedly involved and were able to stop the car. But, officers said, the occupants jumped and ran. No arrests were made. Police did not give a description of the vehicles.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Albemarle police at 704-984-9528.
