Reward rises in Stanly County murder case

Reward money has been increased to $7,500 for help in solving the murder of a Stanly County man who was found bound and restrained to a chair in his Albemarle home on May 12, 2013.

Jason Whitney Burleson’s body was found in the basement of his home at 27589 Groves Avenue. It was later confirmed that he suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Investigators hope the increased reward will encourage people to come forward with information helpful in arresting and convicting the person or persons responsible. The money is from Stanly County Sheriff's Office and North Carolina Governor’s Reward Program.

Contact Stanly County Crimestoppers at 704-982-0711 or the Stanly County Sheriff's Office at 704-986-3714. Information can be provided anonymously if desired.
