What to Watch on Thursday: Maggie Gyllenhaal shines in ‘Honorable Woman’

GJ52NI3NJ.4
- Robert Viglasky/SUNDANCE
(L-R): Tobias Menzies and Maggie Gyllenhaal in the Sundance original series “The Honorable Woman.”

The Honorable Woman (10pm, Sundance ) - This new 8-episode miniseries features Maggie Gyllenhaal as the Anglo-Israeli daughter of an assassinated Zionist arms dealer who seeks to legitimize their business. The first episode involves the murder of a Palestinian businessman who was closely connected to the family enterprise. It’s a bit of a chore to get through, but if you can tough it out for a few episodes, you’ll get into it. And Gyllenhaal is really good (but no surprises there).

Also on tonight . . .

Welcome to Sweden (9pm, NBC) - Bruce looks for a job in Sweden and asks Hassan to teach him to drive. Also, former client Gene Simmons has an IRS problem and seeks Bruce’s help.

Rectify (9pm, Sundance) - Daniel continues to look for answers, while Senator Foulkes undertakes a disreputable task.

Rookie Blue (9pm, ABC) - Oliver prepares Andy to defend herself at Duncan’s dismissal hearing.

Married (10pm, FX) - Russ and Linda go on a romantic getaway, and Jess gets into trouble with her neighbor.

Maron (10pm, IFC) - An old acquaintance, knowing Marc’s star is on the rise, asks him for some help, but when the guy dies, Marc is forced to confront the fact that success can be fleeting.
