LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. Chien-Ming Wang was solid over six innings, Michael Taylor drove in three runs and the Charlotte Knights beat the Gwinnett Braves 5-3 on Saturday in the opener of their two-game series from Coolray Field. The win was Charlotte’s third straight and fourth over its past five games.

The win also propelled the Knights one game closer to first place Durham, who lost to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The Knights currently sit 7.5 games back in the International League’s South Division.

Offensively, the Knights belted out 11 hits against Gwinnett. Taylor led the way with two hits.

Maikel Cleto walked one and struck out two batters over the final two innings to notch his third save.
