Wednesday’s temperature to hit 91

Temperatures will reach their highest point of the week on Wednesday, hitting an expected 91 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

Expect this week’s high pressure system to remain in place across the Charlotte area Wednesday. Then a cold front will cross the area from the north on Thursday and stall just south of the region over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters anticipate that a series of low pressure centers will move east along the front, bringing the chance of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall through the weekend.

While Thursday will remain mostly sunny with a high of 87 degrees, Friday will be cloudy, and the high will drop to 82, forecasters said.

The chance of precipitation leaps from 20 percent Thursday night to 60 percent on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
