A family of seven was displaced after a car smashed into a building in the 2500 block of Lanecrest Drive on Wednesday, Charlotte fire Capt. Jackie Gilmore said. No one was injured, Gilmore said.

The crash happened at 12:30 p.m., police said.

A dozen firefighters helped stabilize the building, Gilmore said.

Lanecrest Drive is near East W.T. Harris Boulevard.

The vehicle driver had inadvertently put the vehicle in drive instead of reverse, WSOC-TV reported.
