CMPD says suspect cut off monitoring device

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for a man who allegedly cut off his electronic monitoring device and remains at large.

Police said they are looking for Odell Mychal Smallwood, 32. They said he removed the device sometime Sunday and was last seen in the 600 block of 11th Street, a short distance north of the uptown area.

Smallwood was arrested about 18 months ago on charges of robbery and felony firearm offenses. He was ordered on Feb. 26, 2013, to wear the monitoring device.

Police said Smallwood is 5-foot-8 and weighs about 160 pounds. Anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or contact the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team at 704-336-VCAT.
