Carolina Panthers offensive guard Trai Turner said television timeouts helped keep him fresh in Friday’s exhibition opener against the Buffalo Bills.

SPARTANBURG Carolina Panthers rookie guard Trai Turner saw 31 snaps Friday in an exhibition game against the Buffalo Bills, and he wasn’t as winded as he expected to be.

“The wind was fine. I didn’t notice how many TV breaks you get,” Turner said. “It was a good thing. You get to catch your breath a little bit so you can continue to go full speed.”

Turner may get even more TV breaks this Sunday, with the game against the Chiefs being broadcast nationally on FOX. The network’s No. 2 team of Kevin Burkhardt and John Lynch will call the game, and Pam Oliver will be the sideline reporter.

Rivera said he expects the starters to get close to 40 snaps Sunday. Tight end Brandon Williams led all players with 56 snaps Friday, which was 75 percent of all offensive snaps for Carolina.
