DA’s office to rule on Gastonia shooting

Gastonia police say the District Attorney’s Office will decide whether charges will be filed in connection with a Monday night shooting that left one man injured.

The shooting took place during an apparent domestic disturbance, according to police. The victim is the stepson of the alleged shooter.

The incident was reported shortly before 11:45 p.m. at a residence in the 900 block of Summer Drive, according to Gastonia police. The shooting followed what police described as “a verbal and physical altercation.”

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was taken by medics to CaroMont Regional Medical Center and remained hospitalized Tuesday. His condition was not known.
