Carolina Panthers accept Ice Bucket Challenge

Several Panthers players took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge after Friday’s practice, including the running back trio of DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert.

Rivera and Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman, who was “called out” by Giants GM Jerry Reese, will take the plunge Saturday.

The gesture holds a special significance for Rivera, who will get doused in honor of Paul Najarian, Rivera’s former Cal teammate who died of ALS this summer at 52.

“He was a college teammate and roommate of mine. I’m most certainly going to do it in his honor,” Rivera said. “It’s got some personal meaning to me.”
