Caldwell County sheriff’s investigators arrested a 25-year-old Hudson man on methamphetamine charges and seized $370,800 worth of the drug from his home on Lick Mountain Drive, Sheriff Alan Jones said Friday.
Stephen Roger Dean was charged Thursday with felony trafficking in methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling to keep/store controlled substances. Dean was jailed under a $1 million bond and has a first appearance in Caldwell County District Court on Monday.
If convicted, Dean faces a minimum of 21 to 23 years in prison, Jones said.
“This was a significant bust for Caldwell County, and the arrest of this kingpin will definitely have an impact on the meth trade,” Jones said in a news release. “One minute he was living the dream, now he is in our jail and looking at serious prison time. He has basically thrown his life away.”
The sheriff said investigators also seized digital weighing scales, packaging materials, drug ledgers and assorted drug paraphernalia from Dean’s home.
A Cadillac Deville, Honda CBR motorcycle, two dirt bikes, a scooter, flat screen TVs, furniture, computers, video games and many other personal articles were seized for drug tax purposes by the N.C. Department of Revenue, the sheriff said.
