Ex-news anchor named CMS communications director

Glenda “Renee McCoy” Caldwell has been named the new executive director of communications with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

A former television news reporter and anchor who also has taught college classes has been named executive director of communications for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Glenda “Renee McCoy” Caldwell comes to CMS from Wake County Public Schools, where she was the public relations director.

In her new role, she will direct the CMS media relations and internal communications operations.

Before working with Wake County schools, Caldwell was director of public affairs for the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. She also worked in television, was a consultant and taught communications at Peace and Meredith colleges in Raleigh.

Caldwell has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Florida A&M University and is from Jacksonville.
