Decarlos Brown, 23, of Charlotte was arrested Thursday in connection with an armed robbery off East Arrowood Road, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery Thursday afternoon in southwest Charlotte.

Decarlos Dejuan Brown Jr., 23, was taken into custody a short time after the reported robbery around 3:30 p.m. in the 8200 block of Lodge South Circle, police said. That is a short distance north of Arrowood Road and west of Old Pineville Road.

Police said a man armed with a handgun approached the victim and demanded his property. After taking several items from the victim, police said, the suspect drove off in a white minivan. The victim was able to provide officers with a detailed description of the vehicle, investigators said.

A short time later, officers spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s minivan in the 600 block of Branch Way Court, less than a half-mile from the robbery scene. Brown was taken into custody at the scene, and detectives said they searched the suspect’s residence and found the victim’s property and the handgun allegedly used in the crime.

Brown was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.

Investigators ask that anyone with additional information about the suspect contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
