Downed tree knocks out power in Myers Park

A tree fell onto Sharon Lane on Saturday evening, blocking the road and knocking out power in the area.

The tree fell shortly before 7:15 p.m., according to police reports, on Sharon Lane near South Wendover Road.

Charlotte fire officials said the tree landed in the northbound lanes, blocking the road. Traffic was diverted for several hours while officials worked to clear the tree.

The downed tree also brought down power lines. Duke Energy reported about 200 customers without power late Saturday night, in the area near Myers Park Country Club.
