Charlotte city attorney Bob Hagemann gets 4% raise

The Charlotte City Council voted unanimously Monday to give City Attorney Bob Hagemann a 4 percent raise, praising his work. Hagemann’s new salary will be just under $217,000.

Council members only discussed the new salary briefly, with both Claire Fallon and Patsy Kinsey saying Hagemann had done a good job.

For the past year, Hagemann has led the city’s efforts to keep control of Charlotte Douglas International Airport. He also has coordinated the city’s legal response to the U.S. Attorney’s Office wide-ranging subpoena of records related to former mayor Patrick Cannon. “The review was exemplary,” Kinsey said. “I felt he deserved more than 4 percent.”

Council members had previously discussed Hagemann’s evaluation during a closed session meeting.

Monday’s vote took place in fiscal year 2015, in which the city budgeted an average raise of 3 percent for city employees. For the time period covered in the review – fiscal year 2014 – the city gave a flat 2 percent raise to all employees.
