Emergency workers responded to Selwyn Elementary School on Thursday after several students were stung by yellow jackets.

Ten students at Selwyn Elementary were stung by yellow jackets while playing on a school field at recess around midday Thursday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials said.

Ambulances and fire trucks were dispatched to the school on Colony Road to evaluate the students. None of them was taken to the hospital, CMS said.

One student had an allergic reaction and had to use an EpiPen that was already on hand at school. A parent came to the school and took him home, CMS said.

Some yellow jackets entered the building, so students were moved to other areas of the school, CMS said.

CMS building services came to Selwyn soon after to remove the yellow jacket nest.
