WHAT'S AT STAKE

Clemson is looking to gain some confidence after its fourth-quarter collapse in a 45-21 loss at Georgia last week. The Tigers haven't started 0-2 since 1975. South Carolina State is 0-11 all-time against teams from the Football Bowl Subdivision and has lost both career games to Clemson by a combined score of 106-13.

KEY MATCHUP

South Carolina State's RBs vs. Clemson's Defensive Line. The Tigers allowed 328 rushing yards to Georgia, including 198 to its star Todd Gurley. While South Carolina State's Bulldogs don't have the bite of Georgia's, they did amass 381 yards on the ground in a 63-0 victory over Benedict last week. Jalen Simmons led the way with 77 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

South Carolina State: QB Adrian Kollock completed 15 of 18 passes for 160 yards in his first career start. He also had a 39-yard rushing TD.

Clemson: DE Corey Crawford missed the Georgia game due to suspension and senior's return could spark up the pass rush the Tigers struggled to get down the stretch in their opening-week loss.

Clemson quarterback Cole Stoudt's best game was in the 2013 win over South Carolina State as he completed 19 of 20 passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns in relief of Tajh Boyd. ... Six South Carolina State players rushed for touchdowns in its opener last week. .... Clemson is 28-0 all-time against schools of the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly classified at I-AA teams. ... South Carolina State shared the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title last year and reached the NCAA FCS playoffs. The Bulldogs also won the league crown and made the playoffs in 2008, the other previous season they played Clemson.
