Deal Saver - brought to you by the Charlotte Observer

Many of you accepted my invitation last week to send along your thoughts about what “pro-life” means. Should it be limited to abortion? Can a person be both “pro-life” and “pro-gun”?

Over the years, as a political reporter (when I wasn’t a religion reporter), I’ve heard more than a few candidates use this phrase to identify themselves ideologically: “I’m pro-life and pro-gun.”

Have you ever looked back at your life and seen something you don’t remember noticing?

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Baptist minister most at home in a church, preaching from the pulpit. So it’s fitting that Charlotte marks his birthday every year with a prayer breakfast.

When I left the faith beat 16 months ago to cover election-year politics, I thought I was taking a religion news break.
