QB Tajh Boyd, Hampton, Va., 6-1, 208:

The East MVP in the Army All-American Bowl (seven of nine passes completed for 188 yards, three TDs) picked the Tigers over Ohio State and Oregon.

LB Quandon Christian, Lake View, S.C ., 6-3, 205:

An Observer SC Top 25 selection who made AP all-state after totaling 88 tackles with 8 sacks as a senior. Good 4.55 speed for his size.

LB Eric Fields, Warner Robins, GA, 6-1, 205:

A speedy ‘backer with sub-4.5 speed who has had his visits limited as he waits to take his college boards. Remains a Clemson commit for now.

DE Malliciah Goodman, Florence, S.C., 6-4, 255:

The Observer’s No.4 prospect in SC, he was a Shrine Bowler and all-state pick who had 15 sacks as a senior. Army All-American Game choice.

LB Corico Hawkins, Milledgeville, GA, 6-0, 218:

Led Baldwin High to a 12-1 and state quarterfinals, with 102 tackles--16 for losses—three sacks and two picks. Region 3-AAA player of year.

OL J.K. Jay, Greenville, S.C., 6-6, 275:

An injury cost him his jr. season, but was Clemson’s first commitment anyway. Could gain 40 pounds in the weight room and become a dominant tackle.

RB Roderick McDowell, Sumter, S.C., 5-10, 175:

Has 4.4 speed, good shiftiness and will be eased into action now that C.J. Spiller has decided to return. McDowell is an Observer SC Top 25 selection.

WR Bryce McNeal, Minneapolis, MN, 6-2, 170:

Also a track star (4.45 speed) and basketball standout, McNeal is versatile and elusive in space, a huge commitment for the Tigers.

DB Jonathan Meeks, Chatham, VA, 6-2, 203:

Mackey’s Hargrave teammate Meeks, a former QB standout at Rock Hill High with 4.4 speed. Look for him to play safety for the Tigers.

DT Tyler Shatley, Connellys Spring, 6-3, 255:

Clemson poached one of The Observer’s NC Top 25 prospects in the athletic Shatley, a Shrine pick who had 2,001 rushing yards at East Burke High.

LB Spencer Shuey, Charlotte, 6-4, 241:

An outstanding week of Shrine Bowl work popped the Observer Top 25er and South Meck star onto Clemson’s radar, and Tigers grabbed him.

OL Brandon Thomas, Spartanburg, S.C., 6-4, 280. Another SC Top 25 pick, he was a road grader for Dorman High, good enough to be picked as the state’s lineman of the year by the S.C. Coaches Association.
