Concord

A book signing Tuesday will raise money for the Cooperative Christian Ministry. Author Sherre DeMao will sign copies of her book “Me, Myself & Inc. – A Synergized World, An Energized Business, Living Your Ultimate Life” 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Max's Ally restaurant, 355 John Galt Way, Suite 101, in Concord's Afton Village neighborhood.

Professional race team owner and crew chief Jay Blake and the “Follow a Dream” team will appear 6-8 p.m.Wednesday at the Texas Roadhouse in Concord, 7801 Gateway Lane. The team, part of the National Hot Rod Association Alcohol Funny Car series, is led by driver Marty Nothstein, a former Olympic cyclist, and Blake, who is blind. 704-979-3090.

Huntersville

The Lake Norman Orchestra, conducted by Eduardo Cedeño, will perform 7-9p.m. Saturday at Birkdale Village as part of the free “Mingling on the Green” concert series. http://lkno.wikispaces.com.

The inaugural Shalom Lake Norman Festival will feature Jewish music, Israeli dancing, ethnic food, crafts and children's activities noon-4 p.m. today at Ramsey Creek Park.

Davidson

Jane Cain, organist and music director at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, will begin the fourth season of “Organ at Davidson” with a free performance at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the church sanctuary. Donations will be accepted toward future programs. www.dcpc.org.
