Hickory

The Hickory Jazz Orchestra will present a concert at 8 p.m. Nov. 21 at the newly renovated Arts and Science Center Auditorium, 243 Third Ave. N.E., Hickory. Doors open at 7:15 p.m.

The 2-year-old orchestra specializes in Big Band era music. The concert will also feature other styles of music, including Latin and contemporary.

Admission is $10.

William Paul Young, author of the best-selling inspirational novel "The Shack," will speak at Lenoir-Rhyne University today. "The Shack" tells the story of a man whose daughter has been murdered. His life changes when he is summoned to a shack in the woods to meet with God.

Young will speak at 2 p.m. at P.E. Monroe Auditorium on the Lenoir-Rhyne campus. Tickets are $20 and $30 and will be sold at the door after 1 p.m. Details: 828-328-7234.

Lincolnton

Dark Realm Research will present "Haunted Fetters," a documentary on Eastern North Carolina ghosts, at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Lincoln Cultural Center, 403 E. Main St., Lincolnton.

The film will feature the paranormal histories of local settings, including the Madison Iron Furnace, the Lincoln jail and the Lincoln Cultural Center.

A question-and-answer session with producer Joshua Snipes will follow the viewing. Details: darkrealminc.webs.com.

Lenoir

Registration is open to participate in the annual Lenoir Christmas Parade scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 28 in downtown Lenoir.
