The town's free Beach Bash in the Park is 7:30-9:30 p.m. July 10 at Bailey Road Park, featuring the Tsunami Wave Riders band.

Davidson

A new museum in Athienou, Cyprus, will showcase 120 artifacts found mostly at Davidson College professor Michael Toumazou's dig three miles from that town. They will include limestone sculptures, two gold coins, pottery and terracotta figurines of warriors, chariots and horses.

Mooresville

AmStar Cinemas 14 at Interstate 77 Exit 36 will host a carnival-style block party fundraiser for Barium Springs Home for Children 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday. 704-799-9699.

Troutman

The master site plan for Troutman Towne Center, a 92-acre commercial/retail complex on N.C. 21 south of Interstate 77, has been approved. The development will include a 151,000-square-foot building for an anchor store, possibly Wal-Mart.

Statesville

The City Council has approved a proposed $132,090 2009-10 budget for the city's Visitors and Convention Bureau. Of that total, $120,760 is expected to be covered by revenues from the city's hotel/motel occupancy tax.

West Shore

Webb's Chapel United Methodist Church, 4640 Webb's Chapel Church Road, will host a July Fourth breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday to benefit the family life center building fund. 704-483-9434 .
