Russell and Kathy Wing are a wonderful team. They live together, work together, pray together and have fun together.
Russell, originally from Brownsburg, Ind., has always been a go-getter. "When I saw this pretty young girl working in my father's real estate company, I had to ask her out," he said.
Kathy, too, was smitten, and from that moment they've been a couple. In 1977, they joined Wing Real Estate, owned by Russell's father, and they began what would be their life's calling.
Successful in Indiana but wanting a change, the Wings packed up their three young sons and moved to Monroe in 1989.
"We felt God was leading us here," said Russell. He jumped back into real estate, first with Century 21, then Prudential, on to Coldwell Banker and, in 1995, joined the Allen Tate Co.
Being the "Type A" person he is, Russell works hard and has enjoyed many successes. I hadn't seen Russell since we met in 1991, until we recently reconnected on Facebook.
Kathy and son Cory also joined "The Wing Team." Russell and Kathy like their work and "can't imagine ever retiring."
Badly injured in an accident seven months ago, Russell has had two back surgeries. "I should've been paralyzed, but God had other plans," said Russell.
Still using a wheelchair, he is convalescing - and working. Kathy works alongside her husband of 36 years, driving to meet clients he talks to on the phone. The Wings love sports, especially NASCAR, and going to Southern Gospel concerts.
