Tennis for kids in Matthews
Matthews Parks and Recreation Department begins a new tennis program Nov. 18 to teach the basics to children ages 6-12. The clinics will be 4-5 p.m. Wednesdays through Dec. 9 at the Crews Road Recreation Center, 1201 Crews Road. Cost of the four week program is $20 for Matthews residents and $25 for nonresidents. South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church dedicates its new sanctuary on Nov. 15. The 18,000-square-foot, 675-seat permanent worship space was first envisioned by the church's founding members 18 years ago, according to the pastor, the Rev. Matthew Brown.
First services will be held in the new sanctuary next Sunday. The sanctuary dedication service will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 15.

Rock Hill
Rock Hill painter Harriet Marshall Goode's "Innermost Thoughts," a solo exhibition showcasing the works, is on display through November at Providence Gallery in Charlotte.
