Ballantyne

Lower Providence Community House will host a benefit at 3p.m. today called "Flaunt Your Flowers," by renowned Waxhaw florist Haskell Eargle.

Arrangements will be auctioned to benefit restoration of the Community House. Tickets are $10 at the door. Seated is limited. Information: 704-905-8334 or 704-542-2097.

Mint Hill

The Mint Hill Historical Society is taking reservations for Holiday Christmas Teas, Dec. 10-12 and Dec. 17-19 at the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village, 7601 Matthews Mint Hill Road. The event will be held in the Ashcraft school house and will include hot tea, homemade goodies and a Christmas gift shop. Tickets are $18. Information: 704-545-4928.

Union County

Monroe will host its annual air show and Veterans Day celebration Saturday and next Sunday.

This year's show will feature the Flying Fortress B-17 bomber The Memphis Belle. There also will be three B-25 bombers, an original Tuskegee Airman, vintage planes and vehicles, helicopter rides, food and entertainment. It's at the Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport, starting 9 a.m. both days. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for veterans, children under 18 free. Information, visit: www.warriorsandwarbirds.com.

York County

Rock Hill's Commission for Children and Youth will host its second annual summit at 8 a.m. Thursday. To be released is the annual report on the state of children of York County. Breakfast is 7:30 a.m. Site is The Cotton Factory, 300 Chatham Ave. Information: 803-329-5625.
