Northeast Charlotte

Charlotte Police Chief Rodney Monroe and City Manager Curt Walton will speak at next Sunday's meeting of the NorthEast Coalition. They will talk about the state of Charlotte and will answer questions. The meeting will be at 3 p.m. at the University City Library on East W.T. Harris Boulevard.

The meeting will also be open to candidates running for office. Each candidate will be given three minutes to state their positions and answer questions. Candidates who want to attend should RSVP to cgftjf@aol.com.

SouthPark

The Sunset Jazz Festival returns to Symphony Park at SouthPark mall Saturday. The event is free.

Southwest Charlotte

Mecklenburg County master gardeners will hold plant sales Saturday at two locations.

A sale at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market (1801 Yorkmont Road) is scheduled from 7a.m. to 1 p.m. A sale at the Matthews Farmers Market (105 N. Trade St.) will be held from 8 a.m. to noon.

Northwest Charlotte

Uptown

Trinity Episcopal School will host William Pollack at 7p.m. Tuesday as part of its Embracing Diversity initiative and as part of a fund-raising effort for a new youth running program called Let Me Run.

Admission is free in lieu of donations to Let Me Run.

Pollack is director of the Centers for Men and Young Men, the director of Continuing Education at McLean Hospital in Massachusetts and an assistant clinical professor at Harvard Medical School.
