2005 Roble Urban, Ribera del Duero DO, Spain
$11.99 at Brawley's Beverage.
This is one of those wines that's a perfect partner for a chilly fall day. Made from 100% Tinta del Pais (a synonym in Spain's Ribera del Duero region for tempranillo, the famed grape of Rioja), it's rich and round with delicious black fruit and vanilla flavors. It's got enough oomph to pair with a bowl of chili or stew, but it's smooth enough to enjoy alone. Snuggle up on the couch with a good movie, let something simmer on the stove, and pop the cork on this great value. Catherine Rabb
