GREAT FALLS, S.C. A 20-year-old from Great Falls has died after a weekend fall from a dam in Chester County.

Chester County Coroner Terry Tinker identified the victim as Leila Brendell Gaston. A cause of death is pending an autopsy.

A second person also was injured in the incident, which occurred Saturday at a spillway on property owned by Duke Energy. Their name or condition was not immediately available.

Few details about the incident were available Sunday.

Authorities are still investigating how the victims fell into the water, said Chief Deputy Robert Cauthen of the Chester County Sheriff's Office.

He said there were fences and “no trespassing” signs on the property. A third person in the group did not fall into the water and was not injured, Cauthen said.

Cauthen said multiple agencies responded to Saturday's incident, including the sheriff's office, Great Falls police, fire and rescue squads, the coroner's office and the S.C. Highway Patrol.
