Apartments available for potential renters

  • Web Sites

www.rentingworks.com: This site is operated by the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association. The group is a trade organization – it doesn't rent apartments – its site offers links to apartment search tools, along with helpful information about renters' insurance and the like.

www.apartmentfinder.com: This site features information from Apartment Finder magazine. You can search by area, price or amenity.

www.charlottechamber.com: Apartment Finder magazine is part of the newcomers' package available from the Charlotte Chamber. Visit this site, click on “Newcomers” and order the “Relocation Package.” It's $10 – and includes a street map, which you'll also appreciate. You'll find links to other housing sites, too.

www.carolinahome.com: This is the site of the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association, and is a good place to look for rental condos, townhouses and other rentals in established neighborhoods. You can search by area, by type – condo or townhouse? – and by price.

www.charlotteobserver.com: Go to The Observer's site and click on “Real Estate” and then “Apartments.” You'll find a link that will let you search among available units in complexes across the region. You'll find another that will let you search for homes, condos and townhouses listed in the newspaper's classified sections.

If you're looking for an apartment in the Charlotte area, here's a bit of good news: You'll find more available apartments to choose from than you would have last year – at better prices. The average monthly rent has dipped a bit, according to the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association, from about $750 to $725.

More than 160,000 area residents call apartments home. If you're looking for an apartment, you'll discover help just a mouse click away.
