Campus beautification: Lowe’s in Huntersville and Ace Hardware in Cornelius recently donated several flowers and shrubs to the school’s spring campus beautification project. Also, a crew of parents, students and community members volunteered for the sprucing-up effort earlier this month, including Allison Labovitz; Mary Robinette; Girl Scout Troop 2123 and landscaping committee members Jennifer Guerry, Lena Graham, Jenny Alexander, Angie Regan, Sonya Rush and Kate Stables.

Magnet Lottery: The Magnet Lottery for students who wish to apply for the International Baccalaureate Program at North Mecklenburg High School continues through Feb. 11. An information session for parents and students interested in the program will be held 7-8 p.m. Feb. 7 in theauditorium, 11201 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville. A session for students and parents who have entered the lottery will be held 7-8 a.m. Feb. 13 in the Student Services/Guidance office. Interested students may also make an appointment to shadow an International Baccalaureate student and visit classes at North Mecklenburg 7:15-10 a.m. Jan. 31. Appointments must be made by Jan. 30. Actor Kiowa Gordon, who played werewolf Embry Call in the “Twilight” series of movies, will help Lake Norman High’s theater program raise funds for a class trip to a prestigious acting festival in Scotland.
