At the Providence Volunteer Fire Department’s annual banquet Jan. 17, officials revealed the department had earned a Class 4 Insurance Service Organization rating, an improvement from its previous Class 6 classification.

The Museum of the Waxhaws will present “Stitches Through Time – A Quilt Event Featuring Antique and Contemporary Quilts”

The Museum of the Waxhaws has several interesting examples of the quilters’ art in its permanent collection, and they will all be on display. At the February event, local quilters are invited to bring and display their handiwork, along with people who want to share and learn more about their heirloom quilts. An expert appraiser will be there to value quilts and period fabrics.
