Observations: Cheerleader decks Henderson

By Rick Bonnell

Gerald Henderson wouldn't be the first NBA player to get knocked off his feet by a pretty blonde, but this was literal, not figurative:

In the pregame warm-ups, Bobcats rookie Henderson backed up to take a 3-pointer just as a Bucks dancer ran behind him. BAM! They both hit the floor, with the dancer trying to keep her smile and Henderson looking shocked and angry.

Imagine if Henderson had been injured. His line on the box score would have read "DNP - cheerleader chop block."

Who knew Milwaukee would bring out the Bobcats' brass? Managing partner Michael Jordan showed up, as did majority owner Bob Johnson.

Jordan makes some sense since his home base is the north side of Chicago, an easy drive to Milwaukee.

In a time when some teams (the New York Knicks in particular) are de-emphasizing the game-day shootaround, Bobcats coach Larry Brown frequently schedules them for 9a.m. - the earliest a team would tolerate.

"The first time, there was some mumbling," Brown said of the early wake-up calls. "The second time, less mumbling. And then they decided they liked it better" than starting later in the morning.
