Free H1N1 vaccine for UNCC staff, faculty today

UNC Charlotte has revised its H1N1 vaccination plan, and will make the vaccine available to staff and faculty today from noon until 4 p.m. at the food court area of the Barnhardt Student Activity Center.

The vaccination is provided at no cost. Staff and faculty who report for vaccination must present their university identification for admittance.

UNC Charlotte's Student Health Center started dispensing the vaccine to students on Monday. Vaccinations for students will continue today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

About 500 students were vaccinated at by 2 p.m. Monday - less than half the expected number.

"Based on the lower volume of traffic today, the University has decided to make the vaccine available to staff and faculty sooner rather than later," said John Bland, director of public relations.

Only the nasal spray vaccination is now available. People not eligible to receive the nasal spray vaccination include adults 50 years and older; pregnant women; people with weakened immune systems; and people with long-term health problems.
