LENOIR, N.C.—Police in Caldwell County are trying to piece together the reason a man shot and killed his wife early Saturday morning. The Caldwell County Communications Center received a 911 call just after 4 a.m. from a woman who said her husband was having a medical problem and was becoming violent.

When crews arrived on scene the house was locked up and they couldn’t get in.

That’s when authorities forced their way into the home on Convington Way.

Officers found Glenda Dian Peck lying dead on the floor.

She had been shot several times.

Police then searched the house and found the woman’s husband, Herbert Lawrence Peck, hiding in a closet.

Herbert Peck has been charged with first degree murder and is currently in the Caldwell County Detention Center under no bond.

The investigation into this shooting is still very active according to the Caldwell County Sheriff, Alan Jones.
