Two people were injured this morning in a house fire in north Charlotte.
Fire officials say the cause of the blaze was something they see frequently in cold weather months -- a space heater left too close to combustible materials.
The fire was reported about 9 a.m. at a house in the 800 block of Polk Street, off Statesville Avenue in the Oaklawn area. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.
However, officials from Medic say two people in the house were taken to Presbyterian Hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
